Lightning From Above

Here's some pictures from the "Lightning From Above" part of the Crucible's Fire Arts Festival. There's some previews of stuff that is going to be at this year's Burning Man. I was using the camera on my new Motorola A630 cell phone. It takes ok pictures but one thing that I did discover about it is that it's a little slow in taking pictures. Most of the time, this is ok but things that move around really fast - like fire - comes out like a big blob.

In front, is one of the feathers from the "Angel of the Apocalypse". In back of it is the "Hand of God". Both pieces by the Flaming Lotus Girls. Posted by Picasa

Here are some pieces by the Flaming Lotus Girls. It's two feathers from their exhibit at this year's Burning Man called the "Angel of the Apocalypse". They're just starting to fire up the feather in the background.Posted by Picasa

This a picture of this huge Tesla coil with fire. It would alternate between shooting out purple lightning and making bursts of fire. Posted by Picasa

This is one of the pieces of the "Synapses" exhibit for this year's Burning Man. It's this metal cavity with different patterns cut out of the sides. It's filled with burning firewood. Posted by Picasa

It's kind of hard to make out what this is but that big ball of flame is 4 "jets" connected together like a cross attached to a cable. The cable is attached to a pole. The jets randomly fire making the cross move in different directions around the pole. Posted by Picasa

Near the overhead Bart tracks, some people in flame retardant suits are creating whirlwinds of flame with a flamethrower and some industral fans. Posted by Picasa

This is one of the 50 footprints from the "Passage" exhibit for this year's Burning Man.  Posted by Picasa

This is what the footprint looks like with fire. Posted by Picasa

This little girl is playing like Simon. The only difference is that it's with fire. Posted by Picasa

This is a bunch of scantly clad people in leather and on stits. On top of their heads, they are wearing antlers with flames on them. Posted by Picasa

This is a tub full of sand with the blue flames of burning propane oozing out of it. The guy on the right with the flame proof gloves is stirring up the sand. Posted by Picasa
